School’S OUT Meet & Greet: Kang Gary dazzles fans at Wisma Atria!
Fresh off surprising students from Singapore Polytechnic the day before, Kang Gary (of Running Man and half of rap duo Leessang), thrilled hundreds of fans who showed up at Wisma Atria’s atrium to catch a glimpse of one of Korea’s most dynamic personalities. The 37-year-old was all smiles and full of fanfare for his ardent supporters – and his friendly demeanour certainly affirms why he’s so popular here.
The affable star is no stranger to Singapore – in fact, he has made multiple trips here previously! He’s so well-versed with our little island that he had no problems rattling off some of his favourite local dishes (Bak Kut Teh anyone?), even insisting that he has the brilliant idea of bringing soybean curd to Korea to sell! Gary: “I know that many Singaporeans love visiting Korea, so if I bring soybean curd to Korea, I’m sure it will be very interesting for all of you!”
He also displayed utter admiration for the band that performed his songs with him at Singapore Polytechnic, a nod to the students’ incredible talent. Judging by how impressed he was, we say a possible student collaboration for a future concert in Singapore doesn’t sound too far-fetched!
Although Gary sheepishly admitted that he wasn’t the best or most model-worthy student around, he sure had some words of wisdom for everyone present. He encouraged all students to not just study hard but to also pursue their dreams and learn whatever they wanted to. Whether it’s travelling, going abroad to study, or even learning to play an instrument like the piano, there’s truly no time like the present to do so. Youth is indeed enviable!
Lucky fans also got the opportunity to head on stage and take a photo with Gary. To top it off, each of them also received a bear hug from the man himself!
Although his time in Singapore was short-lived, we are keeping our fingers crossed that we see Gary back here soon!
